Origin

Where it started

Yellowood is a Portuguese brand whose trademark was registered in 2007, built around premium decks pressed from exotic woods. Where some brands chased the cheapest viable board, Yellowood went the other way — material quality as the whole point.1, 2

The push

What changed

That premium instinct didn't stop at decks. Yellowood developed YTrucks, its own truck subsidiary, complete with signature pro colorways for team riders — including a 'Petr Pro' truck for three-time Fast Fingers champion Petr Ptáček. The brand's reach spanned eras: founded in the community-growth period, its influence (and YTrucks' maturity) carried into the pro-setup years.1, 2

Signature

What they pushed forward

Yellowood's pioneering is the rare move of a deck brand successfully becoming a hardware house too.

  • Premium exotic-wood decks: Yellowood made material the headline — exotic-wood decks that treated the board as a high-end object, pushing the ceiling on what a fingerboard deck could be.1
  • YTrucks — the in-house truck subsidiary: Spinning up YTrucks let Yellowood control both ends of a setup. Its widely-ridden CNC trucks and signature pro colorways (like the 'Petr Pro') put the brand on champions' boards.1, 2

Legacy

Why it still matters

Yellowood proved a fingerboard brand could own its whole stack — premium decks and the trucks underneath them — and that a small Portuguese maker could equip the very top of the global field.1, 2

Evidence note

Trademark registered 2007 (official about page). Placement: spans the 2006–2012 community-growth era and into the 2012–2018 pro-setup era as YTrucks matured — listed once at its founding era with a cross-era note (resolves the #1061 'which era does Yellowood belong to' question: founded in community-growth, influential across both).
